freilich is an initiative established in collaboration with Daniela Baumann and Elena Bauer. It´s aim is to provoke appreciation for sustainable food consumption as well as local and seasonal food production.
We linked existing projects related to our purpose through the use of a website, posters and events, to bring together a community.
We started involving locals by inviting them to collaborate on building an urban garden which later became a central point for meeting, interaction and shared experiences.
The grown vegetables were used for communal dinners and workshops.

We worked with local initiative Querbeet to organize a pop-up farmer’s market, selling ‘ugly’ fruits which can’t be sold in the supermarkets due to food regulations.

We aimed to raise awareness for the origin of food and the work needed to produce and harvest it. Our efforts led to the university’s Urban Farming seminar, established in 2016.
