Off the Grid

Workshop with Sigga Heimis, Domaine de Boisbuchet, 2017

I participated in the workshop ‘Off the Grid’ with Icelandic designer Sigga Heimis at Domaine de Boisbuchet.

During the workshop, together with people from different cultures and creative fields, we thought about ways of producing energy. We didn’t only think about electricity but mental or recreational energy too. The aim was to create a playful experience using our own body.

The result led to two people interacting, one person producing electric and the other recreational energy.

Electricity is produced by pedalling on a stationary bike connected to a generator. An attached object is powered which urges you to move, relax, or even do nothing.

Two different objects were built, a trampoline and a hammock, both wired with LEDs. With every jump or just by laying down, the LEDs light up – if an other person starts pedalling.
